Research-Oriented Standards on Gender Equality

The DFG’s General Assembly passed their “Research-Oriented Standards on Gender Equality” in 2008. The members of the DFG have defined structural and personal standards through this self-commitment in order to achieve a sustainable gender equality policy for the entire higher education sector. From 2009 until 2013, a working group that was established by the DFG’s General Assembly evaluated all submitted gender equality concepts of their member institutions, supported their implementation and monitored their development.

The “Research-Oriented Standards on Gender Equality” aim at increasing the number of women on all academic career levels. The so-called cascade model serves as a basis for this strategy. The targeted proportion of women on a certain career level is determined by the proportion of women on the next lower level.
