Summer Break 14.07 -04.09.2023
Next Steps
September to December 2023
How do I successfully build and market a brand? How do I find the right legal form? And how do I continue after the program? - These and similar questions are addressed in the final phase. The program ends with an internal pitch night, where you compete against the other participants.
Online via Zoom
Trainer: Peggy Kaas (
PS:KAAS GmbH & Eventos SL
)
- 9-10 a.m.: Onboarding MFP
Together we get back into the program after our summer break, because especially after a longer break it can be hard to get back into the old structures.
10.30 a.m. - 13.30 p.m.: Selling convincingly
How do I convince others of my idea? Knowing how to "sell" something successfully is not only necessary in the classic sales context, but also in discussions with investors, lenders, cooperation partners etc.
The workshop is about the basics of sales and how they can be applied to any life and start-up situation in which you want to convince.
Presence: Startupservice rooms - Luisenstraße 53 - in the Charlottenburg room (ground floor behind the stairs on the left).
Trainer: Katharina Heinrich (Startupservice of HU & Humboldt Innovation GmbH) & Margherita Sgorbissa (Fair Force Consulting)
10 am - 1 pm: Business Modell Pt. 3
There are many business ideas, but how do you turn a first idea into a sustainable business model?
- Who could be my customers and what exactly do they want?
- Do I solve a relevant problem and what is the best solution for it?
- Is there a market for my product and how do I make money with it?
Founders need to find answers to questions like these and many others.
The workshop gives an overview of the components of a business model and their interaction.
Step by step, the development of a business model is run through in order to provide a common thread for one's own start-up project.
2 - 5 pm: Social Business Financing
How do I convince others of my idea? Knowing how to "sell" something successfully is not only necessary in the classic sales context, but also in discussions with investors, lenders, cooperation partners etc.

Trainer: Andrea Halmy
Especially at the beginning of self-employment, people tend to work too much and put the start-up project before everything else, for fear of not being successful otherwise. If you do this over a longer period of time, you run the risk of burning out - which harms yourself and your business. But how do you find a good way - to stay in balance - and become successful at the same time? With an experienced entrepreneur, who herself was faced with the problem of balancing everything (without burning out), you will receive the necessary tools in the workshop to find the right way for you.
Presence: Auditorium (Jacob-und-Wilhelm-Grimm-Zentrum / Geschwister-Scholl-Straße 1/3)
Market & Competitive Analysis form the basis for your pitch. Comparable to the state of the art in a research, it is important to locate your own start-up idea in the business landscape and to know the competition. In this pitch you will present your results of the market and competition analysis to an internal jury. What you can win will be announced later.

Pitching is an everyday task in the life of an entrepreneur. You pitch in front of investors*, customers* and employees*. The essence of a pitch is to convey an idea with the goal that the receiver of the pitch understands the message very clearly and quickly.
Our pitch training covers the following aspects:
(a) Pitching according to communication theory: what are the scientific principles and behavioral effects of a personal pitch.
b) Different types of pitches: What are the different types of pitches (one sentence, elevator pitch, 5 min pitch) and how to deal with different stakeholders (investor's pitch, sales pitch).
c) What you need to build your pitch: We will go through your pitch step by step.
d) Train your stage presence: We will do some basic warm-up techniques to control feelings and emotions just before a big presentation and use them profitably. -

Online via Zoom
Trainer: Maria Mpalaoura (Commit'ad)

Tuesday, 18.04.2023, 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.: Founding and Identity
Presence: HU main building, Unter den Linden 6, 10117 Berlin - room 2070A
Trainer: Louisa Wiethold (Equalista)
Our personal identity is made up of many puzzle pieces from age, gender, skin color to worldview and specific life experiences. It influences our decisions when starting and building a business from product design, business model to team selection. A better understanding of our own identity lets us avoid mistakes and blank spots, and better leverage our personal strengths and assumptions. This often allows us to better understand, explain and sell our decisions, company and product. In this workshop, we use an adapted diversity wheel for founders* to work out what personal identity is and why it plays an important role in founding. Using our own startup Equalista, we illustrate how identity can influence practical business decisions. Through practical exercises, participants will learn to explore and reflect on their own startup identity.
What participants* can expect in the workshop:
● What is personal identity and the diversity wheel ?
● Why does personal identity matter in founding?
● What dimensions of identity are significant for founders?
What is my founder identity?
Many practical examples and exercises -
Wednesday, 19.04.2023, 6 pm - 8 pm: Equality, women in leadership positions and finance? Where do we stand and what is needed?
Hybrid: Lecture hall 3038 in the main building, Unter den Linden 6 and via ZoomAttention: Event will be held in German!
Women are still underrepresented in leadership bodies. This is despite the fact that the benefits of gender-balanced leadership have been proven. Voluntary agreements and self-commitment have not made much difference so far. The legal requirements work, but still for too few companies.
At the same time, women earn 18% less than men, that is 4.81 € less gross than men per hour. The gender gap is also evident in private life: Women invest their money significantly less.
Our guests are Monika Schulz-Strelow, founding president of FidAR, and Karolina Decker, managing director of finmarie GmbH. FidAR (Frauen in die Aufsichtsräte - Women on Supervisory Boards) has been working for more than 15 years to increase the number of women at the top levels of the economy. Monika Schulz-Strelow will talk about the political and economic background as well as the work of FidAR in general. Karolina Decker will then show the reasons why there is still a financial imbalance between women and men and what each individual can do about it. Finally, there will be a panel discussion with questions from the audience.
