Best Practice Measures

In order to improve gender equality and make your network more family-friendly, you can use your development funds (Excellence Initiative) or DFG gender equality lump sum for measures such as:


Career Support Measures for female PhD candidates

  • Workshops and trainings on a variety of topics, e.g. leadership, soft skill courses etc.

  • Coaching for doctoral students on topics such as dissertation completion, career planning, and the transition to the postdoc phase

  • Participation in mentoring programmes for (post)doctoral students


Work-Life Balance and Academic Careers

  • Home office arrangements for PhD candidates

  • Flexible child care via KidsMobil

  • Setup of family rooms at HU as well as provision of equipment


Additional Measures

  • Public relations, e.g. leaflets about gender equality measures etc.

  • Gender awareness trainings

  • Office supplies needed for the execution of equal opportunity measures


All measures can also be financed and realised in cooperation with other DFG research networks at HU.
