I have acted as full-time Central Women’s Representative at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin since 15 August 2009.

In addition to my academic work as a historian at Freie Universität Berlin in which I focussed on the history of minorities as well as women’s and gender history, I have been involved in a variety of feminist and equal opportunity initiatives since my studies. Among these commitments were a position as Vice Central Women’s Representative at Freie Universität Berlin as well as a position as Central Women’s Representative at three other higher education institutions in Berlin (Fachhochschule für Verwaltung und Rechtspflege, Hochschule für Wirtschaft und Recht und Hochschule für Musik „Hanns Eisler“) among other.

I understand my role as Central Women’s Representative as twofold: I am a lobbyist for all women at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin as well as a consultant to the leaders and central committees at the university for all questions related to issues of equal opportunities. I develop instruments, programmes and measures that contribute to the promotion, encouragement and strengthening of women in all fields at the university. At the same time, I advise and support women at the university on an individual basis – not least in the case of problems. My network comprises many players committed to gender equality within the university, but also outside of it. Only in a joint effort together can we be successful in our pursuit of a sustainable equal opportunity policy. All my activities aim at changing Humboldt-Universität in terms of equal opportunities and diversity.
