I_Professional Graduate Programm Mitte (I_Pro Mitte) is an innovative women*’s empowerment programme for doctoral and postdoctoral students studying/researching in the field of social sciences and humanities. The programme focusses on sustainably strengthening the potentials of these women* to score on the labour market.

The programme incorporates a new practice-oriented intersectional approach and therefore serves as a unique new model empowerment programme reaching out to these women* who come from marginalized groups.

Further information
What is I_Pro Mitte?
Women* of different ethnic or religious backgrounds or women* with disabilities face more discrimination than others on the labour market despite similar or higher qualifications than other candidates. Due to this, these women* are less represented on the labor market, in particular in the middle and upper tier positions. This is where I_Pro Mitte intervenes: As an intersectional empowerment programme for doctoral and postdoctoral students it further strengthens these women* and supports them on their career path while qualifying them with skills-enhancing workshops or helping them build a network through mentoring and shadowing.
What's the aim of I_Pro Mitte?
I_Pro Mitte would like to improve the chances of highly qualified women* from mariginalised or underrepresented groups on the labour market. It is a proactive empowerment programme for female* doctoral and postdoctoral students of social sciences and the humanities at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. With its six-months programme it strengthens their career-making path, enhances their potential and equips them with a network in order to start careers in academia, politics, business, civil service or self-employment. While doing so, I_Pro Mitte uses already established best-practice experiences from other CvH-measures, such as the Leadership-Programm for female* professors or firstgen, an empowerment programme for students with non-academic backgrounds.
What does I_Pro Mitte offer?

Each programme round consists of a total of six doctoral and postdoctoral students doing research or working in the disciplines social sciences or humanities.

The programme runs for 6 months and consists of five different elements:

  • lectures
  • skills enhancement: workshops
  • development analysis: (group) coaching
  • career development: mentoring und shadowing
  • networking

During its 6 months running time I_Pro Mitte hosts several events within this five cluster skills and network-enhancing programme. Mentoring and shadowing are two elements that run parallel to all other events during that time.
The programme consists of approximately 50 hours, 10 events, of which approx. 3 are full day events and 7 events cover events of 2-5 hours each. Attendance is obligatory.

Who can participate?
