1. Demoaufruf: Trans* Day of Visibility am 31.03.2021

Liebe alle,

der Trans* Day of Visibility am 31.03.2021 rückt immer näher.

1. demo call: Trans* Day of Visibility on 31.03.2021

Dear all,

the Trans* Day of Visibility on 31.03.2021 is getting closer and closer. We as a team from the petition "TINclusiveUni" would like to make the political demands of the community visible on this day. Therefore, on 31.3 at 16 clock a demo will take place in front of the Bundestag!

One of the program items will be the handover of the more than 5,000 (!) signatures to decision-makers. But that should not be all! Because it is not only at universities that we encounter unnecessary barriers and trans*-hostile structures.

In order to cover as many relevant topics of the TIN* community as possible, we are looking forward to speakers or people who want to create program points. Support us by participating in our orga-meetings on Mon 22.03.21 at 3pm & on Mon 29.03.21 at 3pm (you will get access data via our mail address) and advertise our demo!!!! But also your participation in the demo alone is a very important contribution for more visibility and we are happy about every single person who is there!

Since Corona is unfortunately far from over, we will pay attention to distances and the wearing of a mouth-nose-protection at the demo. This should not separate us, but allow us to come together despite the pandemic and demand a trans*inclusive society together!

You can reach us by mail at tinklusiveuni@gmail.com .

2. income TVstud-III and family insurance

If you are under 25, you are still entitled to family insurance despite the current hourly wage according to TVstud-III of 12,68€ and a corresponding gross income of 507,20€ (at a working time of 40 monthly hours). Some health insurance companies oblige student employees to take out student insurance, even though they would still be entitled to family insurance, because minus the so-called advertising cost allowance of 1000€ per year or 83,33€ per month you end up again under the income limit of 470€ per month.

Here is the calculation: 507,20€ (gross income) - 83,33€ (flat rate for advertising costs) = 423,33€ and therefore below the income limit of 470€.  You can find more information here: https://www.studis-online.de/StudInfo/Versicherungen/familienversicherung-student.php

3. solidarity with the employees in the university library of the HU

Since the beginning of the pandemic, a large number of student employees at the Grimm Center, who were previously underpaid through the TVstud means of collective bargaining, continue to be asked to work in attendance. In doing so, they are being denied the opportunity to be present just two days a week, thus reducing the need to use public transportation and meaningfully reducing the risk of infection during a pandemic.

You can read more details about this in our solidarity letter, which also describes the conflict in more detail. You can find the letter in the attachment and on our website https://vertretungen.hu-berlin.de/de/prstudb . We solidarize with the demands of the employees!

4.  Statement on the Berlin Higher Education Act (BerlHG)

As the staff council of the student employees of the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, we are following the process of the amendment of the BerlHG by the senate administration. The current draft, as well as the statements of various institutions, have prompted us to take a stand ourselves. Until now, the special position of student employees and student staff councils has been a blind spot in many points.

All our demands have in common the goal to strengthen the position of students and student employees within the university democracy and to create real, equal participation for the largest university status group. You can find our statement here (in German).

As always: if you have questions, suggestions, criticism or problems, please contact us! We can be reached by email and by phone (during our phone hours every Thursday).
